Comments Requested on Energy Storage

The Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE) is following up on the March 2014 workshop by providing a comment opportunity on energy storage funding considerations.  Comments will be accepted until August 29th.  The comment opportunity is available here.
The Oregon Public Utility Commission and ODOE held the energy storage workshop on March 19, 2014, in Portland, OR.
Oregon’s 10-Year Energy Action Plan (2012) describes the potential for energy storage to “increase the ability to balance out intermittent resources, such as wind or solar, and provide an alternative to building new infrastructure, such as transmission line expansion.” The workshop consisted of two panel presentations and several breakout discussion sessions on topics related to the current and future potential of energy storage technology in the state.
Meanwhile the US Department of Energy is extending $4 billion in loan guarantees with a focus on advanced grid integration and storage.  Click online to find out more (here).
