Salem, OR – The Oregon Public Utility Commission has scheduled a series of Open House and Town Hall events during the month of April to provide information and obtain comments from the public about the proposed sale of Portland General Electric.
The two Town Hall events will be like a more traditional public hearing to receive public comment said Commission Chairman Lee Beyer. "This will be an opportunity for the public to let the Commissioners know what concerns they may have about the proposed sale. We will take as long as it takes to make sure everyone is heard. It’s important that we hear where the public is coming from on this important sale."
In addition to the Town Halls, the Commission will hold five Open House events where the public can provide comments and receive information. They will be informal and will not include formal presentations. The public will be able to look at written material and have personal conversations with Commission Staff, the Applicants and Intervenors in the sale, such as the Citizens’ Utility Board, to get their questions answered. Comment cards will be available to fill out and members of the public will have the option to provide verbal testimony to a court reporter. They also can provide comment through the PUC website.
"We are very concerned that the public feels they have the opportunity to learn about this sale proposal and get their voice heard in the process. We have used this Town Hall format in rate cases and telephone issues the last few years and have found it works very well from the citizens perspective," added the Chairman.
The Commission has scheduled the Open Houses and Town Halls in addition to trial-like evidentiary hearings that will be part of the review process.
These locations may be subject to change. Doors open to the public at 7:00 p.m.
