Salem, OR –The Oregon Public Utility Commission will host four Open Houses to provide information to the public about the upcoming change to ten-digit dialing for customers in the northern coastal 503 area code.
These Open Houses will provide an informal setting for the public to obtain information, and ask questions of Commission Staff and telephone company employees about the upcoming change. There will be information tables and the public can come and go at their leisure.  There will not be a formal presentation. The doors will open at 6:00 pm and the Open House will last until 7:30 pm.
Currently, both seven-digit and ten-digit calls will be connected. However, beginning in April 27, 2008 only ten-digit dialed calls will go through. If you dial incorrectly, you will receive an automated message.
