Avion Water Company - UW 171

On December 11, 2017, Order No. 17-496 was signed by the PUC Commissioners, adopting a stipulation that approved a rate increase of 7.46 percent or $620,766 annually. The rates are effective for service rendered on and after January 1, 2018.

On May 1, 2017, Avion Water Company filed a request with the Oregon Public Utility Commission to raise customer rates by 12.82  percent or $1,067,492 million annually.  The main drivers according to the company’s filing are increases in operating costs, such as the hiring of an additional engineer, the change in status of a part-time temporary position to full-time permanent and capital investments made to the system.
The increase in rates were allocated across five of Avion’s existing tariffs.  Larger meter sizes absorbed more of the increase to base rates in order to better align rates with the meter factors recommended by American Water Works Association. A comparison of the meter size increase are listed below:
