Salem, OR – The expiration of an alternative form of regulation for PacifiCorp will result in a rate decrease of nearly three percent for the company’s Oregon residential customers starting October 10, 2002.
Residential rates will drop by 2.9 percent. PacifiCorp serves approximately
420,694 residential customers.
The decrease is the result of the Oregon Public Utility Commission removing the tariff after the company decided not to apply for renewal of the regulation, which shared costs and benefits related to electric consumption.
Previously rates were decreased for large general service customers by 0.64 percent September 4. Rates slightly increased for small general service customers August 7, 2002 by 0.83 percent.
In other business, the Commission extended PacifiCorp’s Portfolio Option offerings through 2003. The Portfolio options are part of Oregon’s Electric Industry Restructuring Law passed by the 1999 Oregon legislature. The Portfolio options have been available since March 1.
As of September 1, 2002, PacifiCorp had experienced the following response to its Portfolio Options.
