Salem, OR – Oregon Public Utility Commission Chairman Lee Beyer was elected this week to serve a three-year term on the Western Electric Coordinating Council (WECC). Beyer was elected at a council meeting in Seattle.
"I am excited about serving on the council," Chairman Beyer said. "This organization is a forum to work out transmission access disputes but above all it’s our job to ensure that when a customer flips the light switch that the lights come on."
The council is one of 10 electric reliability councils in North America promoting electric system reliability and provides a forum for coordinating operating and planning activities of its 154-member organizations.
The members, representing all segments of the electric industry, provide electricity to an estimated 71 million people in 14 western states, including the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia, and the northern portion of Baja California, Mexico.
