Salem, Or. - The Oregon Public Utility Commission will hold Open House events in four Oregon cities this month to hear from the public and provide information regarding a proposal by PacifiCorp to increase electric rates later this year.
November 12, 2004 the company filed a request with the Commission for a general overall rate increase of 12.5 percent. The company says the increase is needed to recover rising costs for insurance, pension funding and health care, among other costs.
A residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt hours per month would see a monthly bill increase of $5.85 if this rate increase is approved. Most businesses would see increases of 18 percent to 25 percent.
Members of the Commission Staff, PacifiCorp and customer groups will be available to answer questions and receive comments from the public.
