Salem, OR. The Oregon Public Utility Commission will be in Boardman August 16, 2010 for an evening hearing to listen to the public regarding Portland General Electric’s (PGE’s) long-range energy plans and the future of the Boardman coal-fired plant.
The hearing begins at 6:30 PM at the Port of Morrow in the Riverfront at 2 Marine Drive, Boardman, Oregon.
The Commission requires that a regulated energy utility prepare an IRP within two years of the last acknowledged plan. Utilities must involve the Commission and the public in their planning process.
The Commission requires that energy utilities:
  • evaluate resources on a consistent and comparable basis;
  • consider risk and uncertainty;
  • make the primary goal of the process selecting a portfolio of resources with the best combination of expected costs and associated risks and uncertainties for the utility and its customers; and
  • create a plan that is consistent with the public interest as expressed in Oregon and federal energy policies.
