Salem, OR. - The surcharge being collected from PacifiCorp customers for removing four dams on the Klamath River is fair, just and reasonable, the Oregon Public Utility Commission decided today.
PacifiCorp customers have paid the 1.7 percent surcharge on their bills since March 19th, 2010. The amount to be collected from PacifiCorp’s Oregon customers for dam removal is capped at $184 million dollars. If the dams are not removed the Commission will decide how to use the money to benefit customers.
The final agreement between the states of Oregon and California, the United States Department of the Interior and PacifiCorp was reached on February 18, 2010.
