Commission Trims Avista Utilities General Rate Case Request

Salem, OR.   The Oregon Public Utility Commission of Oregon approved a revised all-party settlement agreement on April 9, 2015, finalizing Avista Utilities general rate request that was initially filed with the Commission Sept. 2, 2014. The new rates took effect April 16, 2015.
The approved rates will increase Avista’s annual revenues by $5 million or 4.9 percent.  Avista originally requested that customer rates go up by 9.3 percent or $9.14 million.
The average residential customer using an average of 47 therms per month will see their bill go up from $60.50 to $63.65 per month increase, or 5.2 percent. There is no increase in the monthly basic charge.
Avista's filing said it needed the general rate change in order to expand and replace the facilities used to serve customers. This included, among other things, increased investment to replace certain natural gas service pipe and updates for the company's customer information system.
